DIGITAL PRINTING
The main advantage over conventional wet printing is that there are no limits on either scale or the number of colours used, which offers fabric designers the freedom to create fabulous designs which simply could not be produced by any other print method. Although more expensive than wet printing, origination costs are much lower due to the cost saving on screens and set-up times are much quicker, which means that print runs of 50 metres are possible.
Using reactive dyes, and with a focused range of cotton, linen and velvet cloths available for bulk, Standfast & Barracks have been at the fore-front of digital printing development over recent years and technically are probably the world’s leading supplier of premium furnishing prints. We now have four ink-jet printers installed and have plans to invest further as demand continues to grow.
Although ink-jet digital printing was introduced originally for sampling only, as run speeds have increased and the cost of both the print machines and their inks have started to reduce, digital printing is increasingly being seen as a viable option for high-end production runs and special designs.
